About me

Hey there, I’m Mike. I’m an entrepreneur. A runner. A music lover. A dreamer of possibilities. A jack of all trades and master of absolutely nothing.

My head is constantly in the clouds dreaming of my next big thing. I’m in my mid-fifties and proud to admit that I’m still searching.

I grew up the starstruck son of an airline pilot and through 28 detours in life found my way back to the aviation industry, albeit in a tiny, cold niche far from the cockpit that I once dreamed of.

I’ve always sought the road less traveled in everything, preferring the turbulence of small things and companies. Wearing multiple hats and getting my hands dirty was exciting and fuelled my curiosity and as my knowledge and ambition grew, I moved on to the start-up world. Some ideas did really well, others failed miserably, but there was always a lesson or two to be learned along the way and I’m pretty sure I retained most of them.

In 2012, I was the founding CEO of an aviation start-up that is today the global leader in its field. I also started another company a few years later that provides solutions in the same niche, and it too leads in its area of focus.

I’ve racked up close to 2 million miles flying for business and pleasure over the years and I breathe a big sigh of relief every time the wheels touch down in Montreal. Home is where the heart is, and my heart resides in this wonderful city with my wife and three children (two humans and one extraordinary canine).

In my mid-forties, I picked up running to stay in shape and help balance out the chaos of my life. Before long and right on brand, ambition took over and I was training for marathons and ultramarathons, and I have over 60 competitive runs of varying distances under my belt today. There are shocking similarities between running endurance races and businesses, and I hope to share some of those experiences as I figure out the next steps in my life.
